A Brazilian consortium comprising Ferreira Guedes, Matricial and ADtranz has won a tender to complete Unit 3 of the Angra nuclear power station in Rio de Janeiro state with a bid of $56.1m.
State-run power company Eletronuclear said the bid was 16% lower than the reference value for the project, but is subject to possible appeals by unsuccessful bidders. Two companies and five consortia participated in the opening session of the bidding on 29 June.
Brazil’s National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) said earlier this month it had signed a contract with the Angra Eurobras NES consortium, led by Belgium’s Tractebel, to prepare and structure the Angra-3 project for completion.
